Last week in Lincoln City, Oregon there was a big rain storm that caused serious flooding in homes and businesses. An elderly couple in their 90s were affected by the rain storm because the sliding glass door in their basement master bedroom had category 3 ground water rushing in from the flooding. Their entire basement floor consisted of three rooms and a hallway which were all affected by the rain water. Disaster Master responded to the emergency water damage within one hour from getting the phone call. The Disaster Master crew extracted all the water from the floors in the basement and removed all wet carpet, pad and tack strip. Once all the wet items were removed drying equipment such as two extra large dehumidifiers and four air movers were set in the basement to help expedite the drying process. Some of the drywall in the bedrooms needed to be cut and removed to help dry out the inner wall cavities. Once the walls were cut and opened up the crew was able to remediate any visible mold that started to grow from the water damage. After about one week of monitoring the drying equipment and checking the moisture throughout the basement the area was all dry and back to livable conditions. The homeowners were pleased to have their basement bedrooms back to normal with no water under their feet and in their walls.
