Recently, in Lincoln City, Oregon a homeowner had a broken water supply hose from their washing machine that caused a flood in their house. They called Disaster Master to mitigate the water damage. Disaster Master responded within one hour to this emergency call. The technicians helped move contents out of the affected areas. Drying equipment was set up to help dry out the laundry room and basement. Asbestos samples were taken from the upstairs drywall, vinyl floors, and the ceiling downstairs. The water damage had affected these materials and before Disaster Master can remove the affected flooring and drywall it has to be tested for asbestos if it’s older than 2004. Once the results for the samples came back, the drywall upstairs and vinyl flooring was negative that gave Disaster Master the green light to remove the affected drywall and flooring in the laundry room. The ceiling drywall did test positive for asbestos so, Disaster Master did not remove any drywall from the ceiling. They advised the homeowners on who to call for asbestos abatement. The toilet and cupboards were detached and put in a different room during the remediation. Baseboards, laminate floors, particle subfloor and underlayment were removed and disposed of. All visible microbial growth was removed with RMR treatment including spray, scrub and wipe down. The carpet was removed in the hallway and in the basement. After the demo work was completed the drying equipment including multiple air movers and 2 XL dehumidifiers were set for 2 more days to help dry out the affected areas.
