Sewage waste is a dirty job to clean up. If sewage waste gets into your crawlspace it may be challenging to clean it up by yourself. Leaving the sewage waste in the crawlspace for too long can lead to mold, bacteria and even structural damage. Sewage could get into your crawlspace from a sewage back up or from a drain pipe leak. If you have any sewer damage in your home or crawlspace it is important to call a professional like Disaster Master to come and extract the sewage waste, decontaminate the affected areas and leave drying equipment if necessary to prevent any mold or structural damage.
A few days ago in Lincoln City, Oregon there was a house that had sewage back up in the crawlspace. Disaster Master responded to the emergency sewer damage within 1 hour from receiving the call. The crew wore full hazmat gear to keep themselves clean and protected while working. There was a heavy extraction needed in the tight crawlspace to remove all sewage waste. After all the sewage was extracted the technicians removed all the affected insulation and disposed of it. Also the existing vapor barrier was removed and disposed of too. Then Lyme product was put down to help absorb the sewer odor. One dehumidifier was set for three days to help expedite the drying process. Lastly, new 6 mil black vapor barrier was installed with red tape on the important seams. The property owner was pleased that Disaster Master was able to quickly respond and remove all sewage waste from the crawlspace to restore it back to a clean and safe environment for the plumber to get into for their repair work.
