Microbial Growth remediation in Bathroom and Kitchen in Lincoln City, OR

Bathrooms and kitchens can be hot spots for mold due to the humidity from showering and washing hands. Even damp towels and damp rugs can add to the problem. It’s important to use an exhaust fan or open a window to help ventilate the room. Kitchen and bathroom sink water supply lines as well as showers can be potential sources of the water leak causing the mold to grow. It’s important to fix the leak first and then remediate any microbial growth in the affected areas. Sometimes water leaks can be underneath the floors or within wall cavities so it is sometimes necessary to remove flooring and drywall to open up the affected areas to remediate all microbial growth. Water leaks that cause mold are a serious issue to your health as well as the structural integrity of the affected areas. It’s crucial to hire a professional like Disaster Master to inspect and remediate any microbial growth from a water leak.

Recently in Lincoln City, Oregon there was a vacation rental property that had leak in the kitchen and utility room from the water supply line. This home also had a leak in the upstairs bathroom from the shower. The water leak in the kitchen and utility room caused the wall behind the cabinets to have microbial growth. There was also microbial growth under the floors in the kitchen and in the wall cavities between the kitchen and utility room. In the upstairs bathroom the flooring needed to be removed to remediate the mold under the floors. Before any demo work could take place asbestos samples were pulled and tested to make sure all affected areas did not have any asbestos. All samples that were tested came back negative. Disaster Master was able to get to work by setting a HEPA air scrubber during remediation and removed the kitchen and utility room drywall, sinks, and lower cabinets. Then upstairs in the bathroom all the flooring was removed and disposed of too. Next, all affected areas with visible microbial growth were HEPA Vacuumed then sprayed, scrubbed and wiped down with RMR treatment. Drying equipment such as an XL dehumidifier and a few air movers were set in the kitchen/utility rooms as well as in the upstairs bathroom to help expedite the dry out. After the affected areas were all dry the team did their final inspection and final moisture readings to finish the job. The homeowners were very happy that their vacation rental had all visible microbial growth removed from the affected areas.
