Fires in commercial buildings are commonly caused by something in the kitchen. The high cooking temperatures, flammable cooking oil, poorly maintained kitchen equipment and faulty electrical wiring are a few of the fire hazards property owners should look out for. Common areas in the kitchen where a fire could start would be the stovetop or range, fryers and griddles. A commercial kitchen fire can be devastating to the employees and owners because it could lead to lost jobs and the business being closed down for many months during the repairs. In order to save time and money it’s crucial to call a fire restoration company like Disaster Master to mitigate the fire and smoke damage.
Recently in Lincoln City, Oregon there was a kitchen fire in a commercial building. The owner hired Disaster Master to remediate the smoke and fire damage. The technicians got to work right away by installing three HEPA air scrubbers and one hydroxyl machine to help clean the air. All contents in the restaurant needed to be removed and organized into two groups: non salvageable items and salvageable items that would get cleaned, boxed up, and stored. Disaster Master removed all charred and burnt materials. The furniture, flooring, wall paneling needed to be removed right away. The bar and dining room was the first area in the restaurant that Disaster Master decontaminated for smoke by wiping down all horizontal and vertical surfaces. Next the team encapsulated the surfaces in the bar and dining area to help remove the smoke odor. Then it was time to remove all contents out of the kitchen cook, prep and storage areas. Disaster master decontaminated, washed, dried and wrapped all salvageable kitchen contents. All non salvageable kitchen items were removed and disposed of. The kitchen was cleaned and encapsulated too. In the attic all charred burnt items were removed and the entire area was HEPA vacuumed. Certain areas in the attic needed to be sandblasted where the fire damage was. Disaster Master continued washing, degreasing, drying and packing kitchen items. There were two walls on the exterior of the restaurant that had major fire damage and needed all the burnt siding removed. The sidewalk was also power washed from the fire damage. All salvageable contents and furniture were stored on side in storage pods. All affected areas were cleaned and encapsulated. The owner of the restaurant was very pleased with the work that Disaster Master did because it helped save her time and money getting the smoke and fire damage remediated right away.
